Why Cloud Telephony is the Next Big Thing?

Oh! It’s the 21st century and you are making a landline call, said my friend. I was baffled with his remarks and I looked at him vacantly. Then, he told me, how a telephone call is not a trendy proposition of communication, nowadays.
We had used a Circuit-Switched Telephone Network, i.e. Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) for years, which consists of telephone cables; fiber optic cables and is provided through some regional and local telephone operators. It is a fixed line analog switching system, wherein local loops were used to connect the call at the telephone exchange from the receiver’s end.
Further, the analog switching system has now been upgraded to the digital switching system, which involves a process of digitalizing the analog audio signal at an 8 kHz sample (reduction of continuous signal into a discrete signal) rate. It helps in thinning out the time lag in receiving voice by a minor fraction of seconds that helps in improvement in the quality of voice; a benchmark for the development of the telecommunication.
It is a fact that the higher the network, the higher would be the economies of scale. So, 21st century brought VoIP i.e. Voice over Internet Protocol. The internet is a part of cloud computing; a network topology to run a program/application on a connected server.
Telecommunication takes the next step forward and digital information is packetized and transmitted as Internet Protocol Packets over packet-switched network. Packet switching helps in delivery of Variable bit rate data streams (packets) in a shared network.
is one of the examples which offered free calling across its closed network, but, it charged when somebody passed on another network such as the PSTN.

He went along and presented me with the third generation packet, which allowed to interconnect users on any two domains on the internet.  Google Talk uses the dial back protocol
We may make calls or send SMS text messages on many smart phones, personal computers and tablets, etc. using 3G or WI-Fi internet service. Even, the time has changed for fax also. We can use FoIP i.e. fax over internet protocol.
Further, we may integrate VoIP technology with any website. He stated that it will delight your client, if your representative replies him immediately upon clicking a phone number available on your website. Lastly, I came to know about e-learning i.e. virtual education through information and communication system.
It was indeed a pleasant lesson for me.
