WHAT IS A SITEMAP?

It is a file which contains list of webpages on a website to help the search engines to understand the content of that website.  Search engines rely on their web crawlers (spiders) which crawl, access and collect site maps of websites for their search engines.  Sitemap provides links of web pages in a website to search engine's spider; thus the spiders need not to hunt the individual links of a website.  Well-planned sitemaps ascertain that each and every webpage of your website get fully indexed onto a search engine.
